Ajanta

Today I joined the same group of internationals plus some new ones on a Force Traveller bus ride to Ajanta. It took us 3 hours and it was not so comfortable that you could sleep - speed breakers all time and a roller coaster bridge midway.

In Ajanta, we had to change to another bus and between the two stops we had to cross an Indian souvenir market. Already when we left the bus, we were surrounded by sales people who wanted to sell us stones, statues, postcards and many more.

The Ajanta Caves are all Buddhist caves carved in the mountains. These caves feature a lot of paintings which were made on the plaster and that are depicting different stories from the Indian mythology.
Nearly every of the 30 caves feeatures a Buddha statue or a stuppa - only some caves are unfinished and you just see how they started to carve them out.

3 elephants:)

The caves are set in a nice green valley backdrop and at the foot of the hill a small river runs. After two hours we finished the caves and walked back at the riverside to the restaurant. Then we went the same way back to Aurangabad where we reached around 6 pm.

This evening we will meet again at Food Lovers before I board the train to MUMBAI.
