Four Days in Berlin

Lufthansa Surprise decided to keep me in country and sent me to Berlin at the end of May/ beginning of June. I arrived on a very hot day and the local transport company struggled to keep up with the influx of people from the airport. It took a lot of waiting time and then the bus was crowded. The last transfer bus was cancelled due to an event, so I walked the last kilometers to my Motel One. After check-in I strolled at the Spree riverbank to the central station for dinner.

The next morning I took bus 100 from Palace Bellevue to the city center - this bus line takes you past all interesting sites for the fare of a normal ticket. After lunch I boarded a riverboat for a one hour tour on the Spree river going to government quarter to Bellevue and return to the Museum Island, passing museums and other highlights.

I was making a detour with the bus to the train station Zoo and from there had a view on the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church that was built in the late 19th century and damaged in the war.

For the evening I bought a ticket for the recommended show „The One Grand Show“ at the Friedrichstadt-Palast. While I really liked the artistic acts and costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier, there is not much of a story and I could do without the singing. Nonetheless it was a great evening.

The next day, I made the hotel lobby my remote office and got some work done before meeting Sina for an after work dinner at Peter Pane.

On Saturday, we decided to enjoy a relax day and spent it Vabali Spa in the heart of Berlin. Behind some fences a total different world opens up with pools, tree shaded meadows and Asian style buildings that house restaurant, massage rooms, saunas, steam bath and relax rooms. After 4 hours there, we were more than relaxed.

We walked back to the Central Station from where I caught the bus to the airport to go home. Berlin is always worth a trip and there is still so much to explore.
